The seed for Lakshmi Vasthralaya was sown by my Amma (mother-in-law), a woman of remarkable grace and clarity. Her instinct for quality, her devotion to dharma, and her deep respect for tradition laid the foundation for what we are today. For years, she preserved sarees like how one would preserve a piece of heritage—with care, reverence, and attention to every thread. What began as her personal passion soon became a quiet movement. The love she received for her curation encouraged us to take the next step—not as a business idea, but as a heartfelt responsibility. Thus, Lakshmi Vasthralaya was born.

I am Shanker, and while I may be known as the Chairman, I consider myself the invisible thread—the one who holds everything together from the background. I don't stand in front of the boutique, but I stand firmly behind it—supporting Amma and my wife Anitha, managing the backend operations, travel, sourcing, vision, and most importantly, shaping the principles and ethics that Lakshmi Vasthralaya will never compromise on.
The real face and force behind the brand is Anitha Shanker—my wife, and the woman who breathes life into every single saree that leaves our boutique. She handpicks each piece, personally quality-checks every design, and interacts with our customers like they’re family. With sincerity and tireless commitment, Anitha ensures Lakshmi Vasthralaya is not just a place to shop, but a place where women feel seen, respected, and valued.
