The Story Behind the Name
Yamunakalyani is one of the most auspicious ragas in Carnatic music. Named after the sacred River Yamuna, this raga evokes grace, continuity and devotion — qualities that our weavers have woven into every thread of this Madisar.
When a music researcher described the sound of the Yamuna flowing — its graceful, continuous movement hitting gently against every stone — it sounded exactly like Raga Yamunakalyani. And when she looked at the Zari on this Korvai border, she saw the same grace reflected in the silk. The name chose itself.

The Saree
Presented in a breathtaking combination of soft Orange and Lavender, the Yamunakalyani Madisar is a celebration of classical Tamil tradition. The warm blush Orange body is rich in lustre, catching light the way the Yamuna catches sunlight at dawn. The deep Lavender Korvai border with intricate gold Zari work frames the saree with unmistakable grandeur.

Why Double Warp
Most Kanchipuram sarees are woven with a single warp thread. The Yamunakalyani is woven with two warp threads twisted together as one. This gives the silk a noticeably heavier hand, richer drape and superior strength. A double warp saree does not wear thin at stress points — it deepens and strengthens with every draping. It is the difference between a saree that lasts one generation and one that lasts three.

Occasions
The Yamunakalyani Madisar is woven for life’s most auspicious moments — a daughter’s wedding, a sacred thread ceremony, a family puja, a temple festival. The pink with purple combination is considered auspicious in Tamil tradition, combining the softness of new beginnings with the depth of sacred devotion.

Care Instructions:

Dry clean for the first wash. Afterwards, gently hand wash with a mild shampoo. Avoid soaking the saree for long periods. Dry it in the shade, away from direct sunlight. Once dry, fold it in a cotton cloth and store it safely inside an almirah to preserve its beauty and longevity.
